Frequently Misinterpreted Bible Facts!

Recommended Posts

I thought I'd put up a list of things people often get wrong about the Bible.

Ready?

Thee, Thine, Thou - these are singular

Ye, you - plural.

Why did Jesus teach in parables?

Matthew 13:13-15 (KJV) Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Jesus taught in parables to CONCEAL, not to REVEAL.

I hear people get that one wrong all the time.

The word church - is it singular, or plural?

Church is Singular. So if you say you're concerned for the church, you're speaking about ONE.

If you say you want to benefit the church, you're speaking about ONE.

If you want to benefit all churches, the word is churches - or Kingdom.

Haggai - pronounced Chag (like Chanukah) Guy. Chag Guy. Not Hag-EE-Ai.

In Job, who gets it right? Job? Bildad? Eliphaz? Tophar?

None of them! Elihu and God are the only ones who had it right.

Let the arguments commence!

LOL Discussions, yes. Arguments, I hope not. ;)

Yeah, there are several names that get mispronounced. Can't think of them off hand.

Interesting concepts. Let me try and put my mind around this one before I try to talk about it.

Actually, I'm wondering if it may be both. Concealed and revealed.

Concealed to those who did not believe: “Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.” (Matt. 13:13 NKJV)

Revealed to those who did believe: “But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear.” (Matt. 13:16 NKJV)

Just a thought. :)

Yea, Book ... Book ... Book 😁

What, do you all think I'm a WRITER or something???

I've got my septology about the end times, the mystery novel, the suspense novel series, the christian cowboy book, the bottom of the sea move, Godzilla, Star Trek, and several film projects.

I may not live long enough to write this!

And I would lay odds most of them are written or mostly written, you just need to polish them. So no playing coy with us. 😎

It wasn't so much that someone hijacked my thread last time that almost made me leave. It was because someone questioned my salvation. And that was right at the wrong point in my life.

Well I don't recall seeing you post anything that would suggest that to me. Matter if fact you make me rethink some things and I've grown because of it.

Nicholas your OP reminds me of the dreaded bible study word....  "context"

It can mess with many of our long held, sometimes inaccurate, beliefs.

Your thinking is spot on.
