What We Live For Matters!

Recommended Posts

In Luke 12:15 (NIV), Jesus taught: "...a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."

This teaching from Christ is very important today as much attention is being placed on materialism. Nowadays, people tend to worship money and idolize possessions.

In fact, the basic yardstick of the human society for relevance and fulfilment is how much you can acquire. This is not saying acquiring the necessary good things of life is wrong. However, when the acquisition of material things becomes a man's topmost pursuit in life, that is where the problem lies.

In the above Bible verse, Jesus teaches us not to allow what we possess and achieve here on earth---that is, things which are temporal in nature---to be the object of our lives.

The question is: if our lives do not consist in the abundance of our possessions, in what, then, do they consist? In Christ and in our relationship with Him.

That is, what brings the greatest level of meaning to our lives is our personal relationships with Christ.

I agree with you. Our identity is found in Christ.

I appreciate your reply, Vivian: in Christ only is our identity found.

The best relationship you can have is with God. Positive read! :)

Thanks for your reply, Catherine. No other relationship comes near, let alone surpasses, the one we have with God.
