  1. To speak on Christianity, you need to know firstly why you are a Christian? Why do you wake up early on Sunday morning, get all dress up to go to Church? Is it because it is a routine or you were trained that way? Anyone who holds the microphone is a teacher but how can you teach, if you have not been taught yourself. How can you defend a religion you know nothing about? Yes I am a Christian because the Bible tells me; "God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). But Christianity is more of a relationship, it needs to be experienced. I met a young man in a cab who could quote the Bible verses from Genesis to Revelation but he does not have a clue on why Jesus came and died. I was amazed when he said the bible brainwashes. I came to understand that he was forced to go to Church as a kid and forced to recite bible verses by his parents but no one could explain to him reasons why he should have a relationship with God. Sadly now a grown up, he is confused, he believes nothing but his instincts. Like this young man, many youths are trapped in a religion they do not understand and they feel forced to believe what they cannot defend. Is it interesting that those who persecuted Jesus were not pagans but teachers of the law of God, they believed in Moses and Abraham but could not recognize the Son of God. The same God, they claim to worship. DEFINE A CHRISTIAN The disciples where first called Christians in Antioch in Acts 11:25- 26. "Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch". The word “Christian” is used three times in the New Testament (Acts 11:26; 26:28;1 Peter 4:16). The disciples where also called Christians because they identified themselves as followers of Jesus Christ in their behaviour, activity and speech. Christian simply means "follower of Christ". However, going to Church and being a good person does not make you a Christian. The Bible states in Romans 10:9 that If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. This is what makes you a Christian, although you need to believe in your heart. But you need to understand why Christ died to accept Him in your heart. A true Christian is a person who has put faith and trust in the person and work of Jesus Christ, including His death on the cross as payment for sins and His resurrection on the third day. The misunderstanding we have in the Body of Christ is the distinction between THE RELIGIOUS VS THE SAVED. COMPARE CHRISTIANITY WITH OTHER RELIGIONS Christianity is the only religion where the worship in the person of the (Holy Spirit) Spirit of Christ resides in the worshiper. He empowers us to live godly lives. It is the only religion where the Lord of Lords humbled himself to become man, to learn to speak in a language he already knew, to learn to crawl, walk and related with people He already knew. The Word of God was made flesh and dwelled among us (John 1:14). Christianity is the only religion we are taught to love our enemies. And pray for those who persecute us. Every other religion teaches us to earn our way to God, Christianity is the only religion that teaches God demonstrated His love for us even while we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8). Other religion have different practices to appease their gods, Christianity is a relationship with our Maker (Psalm 145:18-19). No other religion has an empty tomb. Christians are the only people who follow a leader who died and came back to life (Mat. 28:6). He became our substitute, He is our surety(Col 2:13 -14). He became a curse to redeem us. Jesus took upon Himself what belongs to us so that we could receive what belongs to Him. Therefore, when faced with persecutions, be confident in this; Satan has no authority over the believer in Christ. Christ paid it all in full. He assured us that no trial will test us beyond our ability to bear it, and “he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it” (1 Corinthians 10:13). To be continued (Part 3) - Defense for being a Christian
  2. What do you do when your faith is on trial? One of the most difficult parts of the Christian life, is the fact that becoming a disciple of Christ does not make us immune to life’s trials and tribulations. Jesus did not promise our life will be a bed of roses because we became Christians, but Jesus said be of good courage. He said; "am sending you like sheep among wolves" (Matthew 10:16). In Acts 21-23 we read Apostle Paul's persecution in Jerusalem. He was arrested, imprisoned, convicted and at various stages called to defend his faith. Its no surprise that Paul was arrested, because Jesus said He is sending us as sheep in the midst of wolves, which implies that we will be treated the way wolves treat sheep. We may be dragged to court, flogged, challenged by governors, have parents and children put to death and strongly despised by many but Jesus assures us - 'I have overcome the world'. I cannot help but admire Apostle Paul's dedication to the great commission, the bible states in Act 21:1- 15 that though by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit he was warned by the believers at Tyre and at Caesarea by Prophet Agabus of the persecution in Jerusalem, nevertheless Apostle Paul was not frightened. He said "I am ready not only to be tied up in Jerusalem but even to die there for the sake of the Lord Jesus." Though he was arrested, persecuted and beaten up yet anytime he was called to defend his faith, he will use the opportunity to evangelise. He will speak on the need to be a christian or follow Jesus Christ. The Bible clearly teaches that God loves those who are His children, and He “works all things together for good” for us (Romans 8:28). This must therefore mean that the trials and tribulations He allows in our lives are part of the working together of all things for good. As a believer, we should accept all trials and tribulations must have a divine purpose. After all the Lord told us to walk by faith and not by sight so in all things, God’s ultimate purpose for us is to grow more and more into the image of His Son (Romans 8:29). It is part of the process of sanctification, being set apart for God’s purposes and fitted to live for His glory. However, its not pretense that it is not easy to face tribulations and smile. But let the words in Mat. 5:10 be your comfort; "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for their is the kingdom of Heaven." Believers are commanded to go into the world and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ whether it is comfortable or not, whether there is a societal acceptance or not. The great commission is to spread the Goodnews of Jesus Christ. But how can you preach a message you are not proud of? How can you win souls by the power of the Holy Spirit if you do not know your identity in Christ Jesus? Many Christians do not know why they are Christians. Are you a christian because you were born that way or because your parents take you to Church? To be continued. Part 2 soon.
  3. Complete In Christ

Thank you Dorothy, your positive comment made my day.
  4. Complete In Christ

"And ye are complete in him..."- Colossians 2:10. It is easy to be addicted to compliments but we should not rely on people's approval. Your value does not come from another person approval, it comes from the Creator. Paul teaches in the above verse that we are “complete in Him,” meaning Christ. We need not rely on other people to make us happy. Apostle Peter loved Lord and was always there for Him but when Jesus needed Him the most at the cross, Peter was not there and he denied Jesus three times. Beloved those who celebrate you can also turn around to mock you. Only God endures till the end. God can lead us to kind people but it is important to understand that human beings are not all together perfect. Sometimes your love ones may be in a bad mood or had a hard day at workplace and may want to be left alone. Everyone has his or her challenges once in while, therefore and it will be totally unfair to give someone else the burden or responsibility of always making you happy, its selfish. No one is responsible for your happiness, do not put that extra pressure on them. People may make you feel special and you will feel special but if you are always depending on someone to make you happy, you become needy and insecure. We are complete in Christ. Life is dependent on how God sees you. When you know the Creator of the universe has His Spirit in you and approves you, you should live with your head high. He loved you before you woke up. We are self sufficient in Christ sufficiency. You should not depend on people's applause, you need God's applause. And the Lord will turn the hearts of men for your sake. The Bible states; that when a man's ways pleases the Lord, He will cause even His enemies to be at peace with Him (Prov.16:7). Promotion does not come from people it comes from God. The truth is, no one can meet all your needs only God can. The only one who can satisfy the human soul is the one who made it. Therefore the right attitude is; 'no one owes you anything, you are self- sufficient in Christ'. To expect another person to make you feel happy, secure and fulfilled will leave you disappointed at best and disillusioned at worst. Even a great husband makes a very poor God. Only God Himself can settle those deep heart-needs. Our key verse, Philippians 4:19 reminds us of this, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” If a husband could meet every need his wife has, we’d have no need for God. So, instead of just focusing on finding the right partner, let God work on your heart to help you become the right partner. Marriage is a decision to honour God by honouring the one He has entrusted you. Our goal as Christians is not to seek loved but to be what we want another to be. God wants you to be the conduit through which His character flows, you need to be a reflection of Him. Love is more of a decision you make than a feeling you feel. If you are looking for love then - “delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4). We are complete in Christ, He is our only source of true joy. Finally, humans are created to be exhausted and sleep off but only God is always awake and His hands comforts even while we are asleep. No human being can make you whole, only God can. Brethren, if you live for people's acceptance you will die of their rejection. Quit getting people to apologize to you for not giving you what Christ has already provided. Go to God. Shalom!
  5. What Do You Do When God Says No?

Thanks Ascribe for your comment. It means a lot to me.
  6. What Do You Do When God Says No?

In the later years of Apostle Paul's ministry, he had a thorn experience, it was a huge challenge to him. Initially he identified the thorn as a messenger of the devil but when he called on the Lord, the Lord said; "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9)." Isn't it interesting that Paul was able to raise the dead and perform other miracles but he was unable to cast this thorn away. He prayed three times for God to take this thorn away. But he did not need to pray three times to raise the man who fell out of the window. Why is it easy to help others with their challenges but difficult for you to handle yours? Paul was asking for a good thing. He wanted to be fit to keep evangelizing but sometimes we think our plan is sufficient but God's words implies my grace supersedes your plan. He will not permit pain if He did not have a great plan ahead. And His grace is dwelling in the inside of us. In another instance, the Lord instructed Abraham to sacrifice his only son and did not give him reasons behind this mission. Probably Mr.and Mrs Abraham could not understand how they could wait for so many years for a child only to have him killed. But when you have many facts about something how will you learn to walk by faith. Sometimes God will not give you all the facts because after all He said we should walk by faith not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). Further more,God told Moses he would set the Israelite free from the bondage of the Egyptians but though he had promised him success yet the Bible states that the Lord said He will harden the heart of King (Exodus 7:3). God had already put the promise in Moses hands but He wanted him to pursue it with total confidence in God. Even Jesus prayed three times for the cup to pass Him by. He did not need to pray that number of times to heal the sick, raise the widow's son or even heal the lepers. Nevertheless he had to walk through the road of redemption in turmoil. The Lord's faith walk did not stop His crucifixion and Stephen's faith walk did not stop the people from stoning him. Faith is not stuffs. The just shall live by faith(Hebrews 10:38). Though we are eternally loved by God but Christianity is a not a lazy religion but a relationship and the ability to walk into Christ finished walk of victory. "Without faith it is impossible to please God"(Hebrews 11:6). GRACE reaches out to you but FAITH walks into it. Long before Zaccheaus could not see Jesus, the tree was already planted to meet his need. His grace is not only amazing, it is ‘sufficient’. It is enough. The Lord gave us free will because He did want to create human robots, he wants a relationship with us, which can only be reached when we respond in faith. Shalom!
  7. Identity

Great! I can't express my joy in words.
  8. The Guilt We Carry

Thank you Holy Spirit and thank you friends.
  9. The Guilt We Carry

It is sad some people live their lives consumed by a guilt that happened in their pasts. They make themselves miserable by constantly reminding themselves of something they did wrong long ago and they are unable to enjoy life today. In the middle of a smile you can see a little stroke of pain under they eyebrows. A face that remains me of the Monalisa portrait, I see a smile but pain in her eyes. However, the fact remains you cannot turn back the hands of time. Do not let the enemy bring your past into your NEW beginning. In 2 Samuel 12, David committed adultery with Bathsheba, then ordered the murder of her husband, trying to cover up his sin. The Lord sent Nathan to tell David he would be punished and David repented and God forgave him.The whole point of Nathan’s charge against David was not to punish him,but to restore him. God is always ready to rebuild, restore and heal us. Salvation is the heartbeat of God. The Devil calls you by your sin.Day and night he reminds you of that guilt to destroy your chances of coming back to Christ. But beloved, Jesus Christ did not condemn the thief crucified on the cross, he was repentant and Christ gave him an automatic visa to paradise. Empty out the guilt and God will fill you with His peace. Forget about the facts you think you know and trust God. "Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God" - Mat. 5:8. This implies you will be blessed if you empty out the impurity worries of life. Do not let it contaminate your spirit and poison your future. Life is still worth much more. A certain man from your bloodline, His name is Jesus Christ put Himself in your place. He redeemed you from that sin at the cross. He said " IT IS FINISHED", in Greek it is 'tetelestai', an accounting term that means “paid in full.” Jesus eliminated the debt owed by mankind—the debt of sin. The work Jesus was sent to do was to “seek and save that which is lost” (Luke 19:10), to provide atonement for the sins of all who would ever believe in Him (Romans 3:23-25), and to reconcile sinful men to a holy God. Beloved, ask for forgiveness and receive God's peace. Forgive yourself and when the accuser (Satan), reminds you of your sin, tell him your surety- Jesus Christ paid the price. Stop holding on to that guilt and approach the Father with confidence. Jesus loves you, nothing you do is a surprise to Him. Give Him that broken crown and He will mend it. Don't be sad when people don't accept you, you don't need their endorsement to validate God's Appointment! Shalom!
  10. Following Divine Direction

    Great grace.
  11. How Addicted Are You?

"A wordless believer is more like a defeated believer but a word filled believer is a champion among men". Am inspired by this article. Indeed the WORD OF GOD is solution to every problem. Great grace.
  12. The same God who created the Ant created the Lion. God made us different on purpose. He leads us to people who have strengths or weakness different from ours. So don't look down on people who do not have the same strengths and morals as you have. Just accept them for who they are, this is true maturity. Give people room to be imperfect and focus on their good qualities. Accepting imperfections set you free from complete dependence on others. Be patient with everyone including yourself, we are all undergoing a process. Failure is an event not a person. The Bible story of Queen Esther (Esther 1-7), taught me, the heart of Kings are in God's hands. Though his anger rose but the Lord soften it towards her. In the LORD's hand the king's heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him.-Proverbs 21:1 Just speak to the Holy Spirit about an individual, trust His leading and He will fix what we cannot. Shalom!
  13. The Bible states in Romans 4:20, Abraham never wavered in believing God's promise. Beloved, we did not get to this world by accident, the Creator has a purpose and we must trust Him for the outcome. God works everything according to His purpose. However, its not unusual to get tired waiting but lets learn form Abraham, in Roman 4:19 the Bibles states that "without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead--since he was about a hundred years old--and that Sarah's womb was also dead". Abraham had an unshakable faith in God. He knew he was not orphan in the spirit, he also had total confidence that a good father will not give his son, stone when he ask for bread. Our Father cannot abandon us, this is a fact no matter the circumstances we find our selves in. He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will(Ephesians 1:5). We may get tired of waiting and tempted to give up but I assume the enemy tempted Abraham too and may have told him: 'You are weak and Sahara's womb is dead' but I assume Abraham said: 'I DON'T CARE HOW LONG IT TAKES, I DON'T MIND WAITING ON THE LORD'. The King of glory is not a man that He should lie. When Lazarus died, Mary said; Master, if you had been here," she said, "my brother would not have died"(JOHN 11:1-45), but the good-news is though Jesus did not come immediately but he did come, he did not fail and Lazarus was risen from the dead. Time does not matter when God is involved. This story proves to us that nothing can separate us from the love of God, not even time. Sometimes when you tell a kid to sit still, he gets uncomfortable after a few minutes and starts moving his shoulders around, this is what we do in the Spirit because we get impatient. We feel God is taking too long but the Lord wants us to trust Him. You say: 'God you are taking so long when will you answer my prayers, show these people what you showed me. They have no regard for me'. But God says: 'I know, WAIT'. You reply: 'I do not want to wait, tell the people how amazing I am'. But God says: 'I need you to wait'. But you insist: 'Why! Nobody had to wait'. And God says: ' Jesus did'. Yes beloved, Jesus did. When Jesus was born can anyone tell me was he less God when he was a baby than when he was announced in Matthew chapter 3. Jesus was God as a baby, he was God in diapers, he was God at 4 years old, he was God at 7 years old, he was God at 19 years old, He was God at 23 but when did God announce His Son to the earth, He was 30!. Thirty years of preparation, for 3 years of public ministry for 3 hours of purpose. From the 6th hour until the 9th hour Jesus hang on the cross but no one in the crowd knew he was the Son of God. He was not even announced or even allowed to walk into his ministry for 30 years, he had to wait. So if the Son of God had to wait, what makes you think, you don't have to wait. There is a lot to learn from this particular definition of patience and perseverance -"Patience is a willingness to surrender our will over to God regardless the outcome. Perseverance is faith on action". -Walter Kahler. Beloved, there is a seed time and a harvest time. Sometimes the Lord is preparing you. A cup of tea with sugar in it cannot get its sweetness until it is steered with a spoon. God is stirring you to greatness. He has a big plan for you and He is guiding your steps into it. Regardless of how you feel or what you see, we need to trust that he who began the good work will not quit until it is completed. Shalom!
  14. Insecurity & Comparison

    Thank you.
  15. Created With A Purpose

"Our real challenge is staying on the narrow way, and the water Jesus serves contains the strength necessary in overcoming temptation". I agree with you on this, Walter. Remain Blessed.
